Despite a lot of opposition, the project developer of a $2 billion coal-gasification plant planned in Spencer County says it will be good for Indiana. The plant would turn coal into natural gas. Critics say the plan is too risky for utility customers. There are several bills in the legislature that could mean major changes for the project. Supporters say the state is going back on its promise.

"I'd be lying," said Project Director Mark Lubbers, "if I didn't tell you that we have $750 million we are prepared to invest of our money in the project. And we want to know that the state solidly believes in what they are doing, and right now we're not feeling so much love."

Still no word on when or if any of the bills in the legislature will receive a hearing.
