Police say David Schmitt was driving a red corvette and pulled over a driver in Huntingburg around noon on Saturday. Investigators say schmitt had a gun and told the driver he was a police officer, and that he stopped them for a traffic violation. Schmitt is then accused of frisking a passenger and taking their wallet. $200 was later discovered missing from the wallet.
Schmitt was arrested later that evening. In addition to charges of impersonating a police officer, Schmitt also faces robbery charges.
