Former Illinois Governor to be Released from Prison Tomorrow

By: Chris Veech
Updated: January 29, 2013
Tomorrow, former Illinois Governor George Ryan will leave a Terre Haute prison and move into a halfway house in Chicago. Ryan has served several years for the licenses for bribes scandal. During his time as secretary of state, he allowed unqualified truck drivers to get licenses in exchange for bribes. His time in the governor's office did have a few highlights. He was the first governor to meet with Fidel Castro and received national attention for commuting all death row sentences to life sentences. Eyewitness News will have live coverage of Ryan's release from prison tomorrow starting at Daybreak.
