Indiana lawmakers are advancing a bill that would delay new calculations for property taxes on Indiana farmland. The bill would stop the state from using updated soil productivity figures used to set new property tax rates this year. The taxes are expected to go up an average of 25 percent. This delay would be for a year. The bill's sponsor says she wants to make sure farmland is being assessed in a common sense way. The House considers the legislation next.
