Healthgrades released its
2013 List of Top Cities for Hospital Care which shines
the spotlight on 20 cities that have the overall lowest risk adjusted
mortality rates in the nation. Ohio, Texas and Minnesota have more
than 1 Top City on the list.
Healthgrades Top Cities for Hospital Care are not the only places that have high quality care. Healthgrades has also released its list of America's 100 Best Hospitals 2013 which are scattered across 29 states and provide better-than-expected outcomes across a broad spectrum of conditions and procedures.
New research, conducted by Harris Interactive, demonstrates why providing consumers with these lists is important. 81% of Americans, in an actual emergency, would ask an ambulance driver to take them to the better hospital even though it was further away if they knew the quality of care was better there. And, if they had to choose, an overwhelming 85% of Americans would select a surgeon they do not know at a hospital with excellent quality outcomes rather than a surgeon they do know and trust at a hospital with poor quality outcomes.
