Body Found In Spencer County

By: Warren Korff
Updated: February 19, 2013

The Spencer County Coroner says a body found Tuesday morning near Chrisney is Joshua Peters.
Peters apparently died of hypothermia, but an autopsy is schedueld for Wednesday.  The coroner's office says a farmer living between Chrisney and Newtonville found Peters's body in his front yard around 6:00 this morning.
The coroner puts Peters's time of death around 2 a.m.
He says deputies found Peters's truck about 2 miles from the home where the body was found, and about 2 miles away from his home in Newtonville.  Deputies say it appears Peters pulled off the side of the road, then his truck got stuck in the mud.  The coroner says he found Peters's clothing spread over a quarter mile area near the body, which is typical of someone dieing of hypothermia.  The coroner says someone dieing of hypothermia has the illusion that they are getting hot, so they remove their clothes.
