OWENSBORO - The Owensboro Fire Department is investigating two overnight house fires that happened in the same neighborhood, according to department sources.

The first fire happened shortly before 2:00 Sunday morning in the 17-hundred block of West Ninth Street.
The family was home when the fire started but was able to escape without injury.

While firefighters were working to put that fire out they were called to another house located just a half mile away in the 22-hundred block of West Tenth Street.

Officials say a woman in that home was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Both fires remain under investigation.
