Eyewitness News is continuing to follow the lockdown situation at Evansville Day School.

We have just spoken to officers who say the school is secure, all students are accounted for, and they have found no evidence of a weapon on campus.

They say the incident began at 10:10 Monday morning when the school receptionist got a call about a gun inside the school.  Police say she immediately put the school on lockdown and called 911.

Shortly after the initial reports, parents began arriving at the school.  Officers say they those parents were taken to nearby Integra Bank, and briefed on the situation, and told the area is safe.  Those who wish, are being allowed to take their children home for the day.  Some of the parents we talked to said they were notified by their children by cell phone.  They also say they are happy with the way the situation was handled.

Police are not saying whether they believe this incident may have been a diversionary tactic for the robbery that occurred just moments later at the 5/3 bank on Weinbach Avenue.  A media briefing with school officials wrapped up a short time ago.  Casie Mason is continuing to follow this story as she talks to parents and students.  She will continue our coverage on Eyewitness News First at Four.
