Evansville Police Continue Investigating East Side Burglaries

Updated: March 11, 2013
Despite several arrests in an ongoing investigation, Evansville Police say a string of burglaries on the city's east side continues.

Police are asking the public to help keep an eye on their own neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity.

Some of the reports coming from homeowners include people knocking on their doors during the evening hours, offering home improvement services.  Some residents say those offering the services did not appear to have work truck with them, and appeared to not be carrying any tools.

Police believe these visits may be an attempt to target homes where nobody answers the door, and are asking anyone who receives a visit like this to remember as much information as possible about the person and type of vehicle they were in.

Residents are also advised against agreeing to any unsolicited work on or in your home.  Police also say it's a good idea to keep a record of the serial numbers of your property, and in the case of jewelry, take photos that could help identify the pieces in the case of theft.
