Muhlenberg Toddler Died From Blunt Force Trauma

Updated: 4/1/09: From: Kentucky State Police An autopsy was performed today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville. The 19-month-old victim, Kaydon R. Stewart, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Alan E. Rolley remains lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center with no bond. Previous News Releases On March 30, 2009 at 1:49 P.M., Alan E. Rolley, step-father to the deceased, was arrested and charged with murder. This arrest was after an investigation in the death of a 1 year old child. The accused was arrested at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville by Detective Billy Sumner. Detective Sumner was assisted by Lt. Micky Hatmaker, Sergeant Greg Jones, Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh and Detective Scott Smith. The investigation is still continuing and Mr. Rolley will be lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center. On March 29, 2009 at 7:15 P.M the Muhlenberg Community Hospital called the Kentucky State Police to report what they believed to be child abuse. The hospital stated that the child’s grandmother had brought in the 1 year old infant for being unresponsive. After an examination by the Emergency room Doctor it was determined the child had a skull fracture and had some bruising on the forehead, cause is unknown at this time. Muhlenberg Community Hospital had the infant flown to Kosair’s hospital in Louisville. The Kentucky State Police has sent Troopers to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital and also sent Detectives to Kosair in Louisville. An investigation is being conducted by the Kentucky State Police as to the cause of the injuries to the infant. At 11:20 A.M. on March 30, 2009 the infant passed away at Kosair Hospital. Investigation is still on going as to the cause of death. Previous Story: A man is in custody, charged with the murder of a one-year-old boy. Police have arrested Alan Rolley, who is identified as the childs step-father. The boys name is not being released. Police say the childs grandmother brought the baby to Muhlenberg Community Hospital Sunday night. The emergency room doctor says the child had some bruising on his forehead and a skull fracture. Immediately after examination, the baby was flown to Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville, where he passed away at 11:20 Monday morning. About two hours later, Rolley was taken into custody at the hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
