Updated: April 3, 2009
An Owensboro family is finally getting closure as their mothers killer is sentenced to twenty years in prison. Calvin Stoudt plead guilty to the june 2006 strangling of his forty-six year old wife corrine stoudt. He was her 2nd husband. The victims family say they had no idea of Stoudts double life. Corrine Stoudts three sons, and her brother and sister used the sentencing as a tribute, even though they still dont understand why a man, who they had welcomed to the family, would kill such a wonderful woman. rosecuting attorney Chris Cohron thinks he knows why, "Strangling his wife was more convenient to him than divorcing her." Corrine had only been married to Stoudt for three years and it seems no one new about his past until it was too late. Hed been arrested for several crimes including, theft, grand theft, sexual assault, endangering a minor, and even sodomy. Though Stoudt had been arrested on numerous accounts hed only ever served two years in jail. Family members say, theyre doing their best to take the high road, slowly offering stoudt forgiveness. Stoudt will be eligible for probation after he has served eighty-five percent of his sentence. The two and a half years he has been in jail since his arrest in June 2006, will count towards the 20 sentence.
