breaking news
The owner of Ellis Park got his wish. The number of races this summer will be drastically cut.
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission gave the plan the go-ahead Tuesday afternoon.
This summers live meet will be 23 days when it starts July 11th.
Thats down from 48 days last year.
Owner Ron Geary has been pushing, since he took over the track, to get slot machines and other alternative gaming at Ellis.
He says people opposed to that kind of gaming at Ellis is a very low percentage.
If something doesnt change, Geary doesnt plan to have the track open at all next year.
